American Inventor

American Inventor is a reality television series that premiered on ABC in March 2006. The show is competition based, wherein inventors try to develop the best new product for a prize of one million dollars. The show is the brainchild of UK entrepreneur PEter Joenes, who made appearances on a UK version of the show. The show was co-produced by Simon Cowell and other producers from American Idol. The show has had two seasons since beginning. During the first season, 12 inventors and their products are selected from hunders by a panel of four judges including Ed Evangelista, Mary Lou Quinlan, Peter Jones and Doug Hall. These 12 semi-finalists are regrouped into four groups of three contestants. Each week focuses on a different group of three. Each semi-finalist is given $50,00 to re-conceptualize and improve on their invention. For the show's finale, four finalists pitched their invention in a 30-second commercial for a home audience to vote on. On the first season, inventor Janusz Liberkowsk invented a new type of child safety seat based on the human womb. Called the Anecia Safety Capsule, he won season one. In the second season, inventor and firefighter Greg Chavez invented a fire suppression system for Christmas Trees. Called the Guardian Angel, he won the second season. MORE
