American Gladiators

American Gladiators is a FOX owned television competition series that ran from 1989 to 1996 and served as an iconic 90's television landmark. The show would take four average contestants and put them in physically demanding competitions versus "The Gladiators", a physically built cast and team of athletes and body builders that stopped at nothing to pulverize opposition. Each of episodes had six varying games that would result in points and then eliminations as players would face off against the monster sized Gladiator men and women. And who could forget them, Nitro, Turbo, Blaze, Laser, etc... Yes, it was sometimes pitiful, embarrassing and unfair for the puny opposition, but it was constantly exciting and proved to not always bet against the underdog. The faces familiar, the hair retro, and the games familiar (Joust and Gauntlet, The Wall, and the ever dreaded Pyramid challenge")- this show was and still is, one for the ages. MORE
