A Pup Named Scooby-Doo

A Pup Named Scooby Doo is a animated television series following the Scooby Doo gang as junior-high versions of themselves as they solve mysteries. The format of the show remained the same, as their world is full of people dresssed as monsters and ghouls working to scare people for personal gains. This version of the show is somewhat of a spoof of the old format, as it is much more sensationalist with its effects and has fun with the old traditions. The show has evolved to match the 80s era it aired in, such as Velma having a computer and Shaggy loving skateboarding. The gang has their general qualities intact, but slightly tweaked to show their younger, more immature nature. Fred is still the leader, but his mind is consumed with far-out conspiracy theories and a need to blame every mystery on the local bully, Red Herring. Daphne's role as the pretty-rich girl is more pronouned and a source of humor, as she has her personal butler do everything for her, including “being terrified.” Velma, Shaggy and Scooby are all essentially the same, but have a youthful exuberance about them. The monsters they unmask are often of the more abusrd variety, such as the Nacho Cheese monster. All in all, a Pup Named Scooby Doo is a great update of the original that takes the classic format and characters and updates them for more laughs. MORE
