A Bit of Fry and Laurie

A Bit of Fry and Laurie is a British comedy series that ran from 1989 to 1995 on BBC, starring Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie, before the latter become renowned for his portrayal of the cynical Dr. House on the medical drama House. The show was an eccentric, and sometimes even high-brow, sketch show that depended largely on word play and innuendo. The show was quite progressive and did not stray from commenting on some of the issues of the time. Jokes at the expense of British prime ministers and a sketch that openly opposed the Broadcasting Act of 1990 are among some of the show’s more memorable political commentaries. The two men had great chemistry on the show and would push all kinds of boundaries in the name of humor. Sometimes the sketches bordered on vulgar, but they always finished before crossing the line.
