$5 Cover

$5 Cover is an MTV online television series about the daily struggles and triumphs of young Memphis musicians trying to make it in the music scene. Memphis, Tennessee has been the home of many of the all-time greatest American musicians, including Johnny Cash, Isaac Hayes, and Elvis Presley. It's been the birthplace of some of America's greatest music styles, including Blues and Rock and Roll. Today, the city is as creative as ever, and $5 Cover introduces some of the talented young musicians currently working in Memphis. Amy LaVere has been developing her unique songwriting and performance style since the early 1990s, and the diverse Memphis music scene is the perfect home for her sound. Ben Nichols is the front man for acclaimed country-punk outfit Lucero. His songwriting style is both aggressive and deeply personal, and Nichols himself has a reputation for being sensitive while maintaining his bad boy persona. $5 Cover also includes segments with Muck Sticky, Clare Grant, and many other talented musicians living day to day in Memphis.
