4th and Long is a reality television series that documents the rigorous tests and training necessary to make it onto an NFL team. The show pits six wide receivers and six defensive backs against each other in a competition to prove who has the greatest skill. Filmed at the Cotton Bowl, Joe Avezzano was the coach for the receivers and Bill Bates was the coach for the backs. The contestants come from various backgrounds in regards to their football experience, with some being CFL players, arena league veterans, semi-pro players, national champions, and those who have tried and failed to make an NFL roster. Players included Jesse Holley, Andrew Hawkins, Ahmaad Smith, Eddie Moten, Moses Washignton, Montrell jones, Donte Gamble, Steve Gonzalez, Luke Swan, Erick Jackson, Preston McGann, and Stephen Andrews. At the end of each episode, a coach cuts a player from the show, explaining their strengths and weaknesses and why they did not make the team. Airing on the Spike network in 2009, 4th and Long aired ten episodes in one season.MORE
