4th and Forever is the Current TV original documentary series about the football program at Long Beach Poly High School. In 4th and Forever, viewers venture to California to visit Long Beach Poly, a high school which has had more players go on to the NFL than any other school in the country. Called the Sports School of the Century by Sports Illustrated Magazine, the school is located in a neighborhood which struggles with gangs, drugs, and poverty. These players find motivation in the hope that football is a way out of the tough neighborhood, as shown by the many successful alums. We follow a promising team lead by Head Coach Raul Lara, who has had almost 20 years with the team, leading them to 100 wins in nine seasons as Head Coach. In 2010 the pressure was on, as they had a down year in 2009, losing to local rival Lakewood and having the worst season in over a decade. Looking forward to this one. Not only does it look like a genuine winner, it's also coming at a time when I'm craving to watch some more high school football shows -- there's an empty place in my heart now that Friday Night Lights has ended.
