3rd Rock from the Sun

3rd Rock from the Sun, easily one of the finest sit-coms of the late-90s, centers around a group of aliens living in Rutherford, Ohio as they observe humanity in the interests of science. The stellar comedic cast includes John Lithgow, Kristen Johnston, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and French Stewart. And, perhaps in a nod to her part as a suburban alien in Coneheads, Jane Curtin plays the role of Lithgow's human love interest. Faced with the hefty task of understanding the human condition, these extra-terrestrial researchers battle to assimilate into society. Upon landing, High Commander Dick Solomon (Lithgow) takes a job as a physics professor at a third-rate university, where he is immediately smitten with co-professor Dr. Albright (Curtin). Communications Officer Harry (French Stewart) struggles not to blow their cover when The Big Giant Head repeatedly takes over his body to relay orders from home planet. As the Information Officer, Tommy (Gordon-Levitt) conducts his research from within the body of a teenager. And having picked bodies last, Sally (Kristen Johnston) is forced to carry out her duties as Security Officer while living in the body of a woman.
