24 Hour Restaurant Battle on Food Network features a weekly competition between two teams of aspiring restaurateurs. The teams have only 24 hours to plan and open their own restaurants including preparing a full menu and setting up the dining room decor. Host Scott Conant, chef and owner of Scarpetta, is one of New York's most beloved and respected chefs. He and a panel of judges decide which team successfully meets the challenge and takes home $10,000 in seed money to open their own restaurants. Each team consists of two people: one serves as front-of-the-house manager, responsible for managing the dining room and ensuring guests are satisfied; and the other serves as chef, planning the menu, shopping, and preparing the meal. Discerning diners along with the judges decide which restaurant has the best concept, execution and viability. With such a short turnaround time, any weakness in planning or concept will quickly show itself.MORE
