1945

1945 is a five-part historical miniseries that deals with the many world-changing events that took place during its titular year. The first episode deals with the relationships between the various Allied powers (the United States, Great Britain, and the Soviet Union) as they sought to end the Second World War. During the second episode, viewers learn about the Death Marches that took place as German forces were forced into retreat; this episode also covers many of the political and ethnographic changes that took place in Europe as the war drew to a close. The third episode of 1945 deals with the Soviet Union's attempts to seize huge portions of Europe that they had taken from the Nazis, and with the effect that this had on the Soviet Union's relationship with the United States and Great Britain. The fourth episode shifts focus to the Pacific front, and episode five wraps up the series with a final look at the re-arranged, re-drawn post-War world map. MORE
