17th Precinct

17th Precinct is a drama about cops who patrol the fictional and peculiar town of Excelsior, where magic and supernatural powers rule and technology takes a backseat. Producer Ron Moore has tapped some of the talent from his earlier science fiction series, Battlestar Galactica. Morgana (Tricia Helfer) is a coroner skilled in necromancy. Caol''n Longstreet (Jamie Bamber) is the serious thirty-something crime scene detective. Longstreet's detective partner (James Callis) is also a Galactica alumni. The pilot episode sees the pair of law-enforcers racing to a murder scene through the streets of Excelsior, which looks a lot like a futuristic San Francisco. Their magical powers are soon obvious when they start taking pictures without a camera and hovering blood samples in thin air. The investigation proceeds with the magical coroner summoning the dead victim's ghost. Moore likes to describe this series as "an adult Harry Potter," but the underlying science versus supernatural theme sets it apart in this genre. MORE
