TNT (Turner Network Television) is an American cable television that was created by media mogul Ted Turner and is owned and operated by Turner Broadcasting System, a division of Time Warner. TNT launched in 1988 with a showing of Ted Turner’s favorite movie ‘Gone With the Wind’, which he owned the rights to. In 2001, the channel relaunched itself with a new logo and slogan “We Know Drama”. The slogan emphasized the channel’s new focus on programming with drama and energy with sports programming and syndicated network television dramas such as, ‘Angel’, ‘Law & Order’, ‘Charmed’, ‘NYPD Blue’, ‘ER’, ‘Without a Trace’, ‘Alias’, ‘Judging Amy’, Las Vegas’ and ‘Cold Case’. In addition to the new dramatic programming, TNT also started airing NASCAR when coverage was moved from rival station TBS. Starting in 2009, TNT started airing original programming with the promise to have three nights dedicated to their original primetime programming.
