The Indianapolis Star is an American, daily newspaper in Indianapolis, Indiana that began publishing in 1903 with two other competitors the Indianapolis Journal and the Indianapolis Sentinel which it took over eventually. The Indianapolis Star has won two Pulitzer Prizes. The first Pulitzer Prize was awarded to the newspaper in 1974 for its investigative reporting on the corruption within the Indianapolis Police Department and then again in 1991 for their series on medical malpractice. The Indianapolis Star is also known for its printing presses, which is the largest and most advanced in the nation. The Pulliam Production Center, where the presses are housed, came with a price tag of $72 million and is seven stories high. There are a total of four presses and each press can print 75,000 papers per hour and 300,000 papers and hour if all four presses are going. MORE
