Sesame Workshop is a Worldwide American non-profit organization known for a number of children's educational programs since the 1960s. Originally founded as the Children's Television Workshop by Joan Ganz Cooney and Lloyd Morrisett in the hopes of combining childhood learning research with entertainment, Sesame Street became its landmark show in 1969, utilizing Jim Henson's fantastical Muppets, animations, and short films. Having gained international success with Sesame Street, it gained enough funding to create Elmo's World, A Place of Our Own, Dragon Tales, Tiny Planets, and Global Grover. Each of the shows have been designed specifically with the latest research into childhood learning and frequently works with universities, research facilities, and other companies in the hopes of promoting education, safety, and proper growth in young kids.
