SCI-Arc is the Southern California Institute of Architecture located in downtown Los Angeles, California. This independent, non-profit institute offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in architecture. Founded in 1972 when a group of students and faculty that wanted an institution with a more experimental approach to architecture than traditional schools offered. SCI-Arc is regarded as one of the most avant-garde architecture schools in the United States for pushing the limits and boundaries of academic study. Each semester SCI-Arc offers a lecture series that they broadcast live on the Internet for simultaneous viewing. The school brings in an eclectic group of speakers that are selected by a forum of students, faculty, alumni and administrators.
