Proenza Schouler, founded in 2002 by designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, is a contemporary luxury women's fashion label. The company's founders first found success when they collaborated on their senior thesis project while studying at the Parson's School of Design. When their entire collection was bought by Barneys New York, both McCollough and Hernandez became highly sought after within the fashion world. Their designs have won then many awards, including the 2003 CFDA Perry Ellis Award for new talent, the CFDA Womenswear Designer of the Year, and the 2009 CFDA Accessory Designer of the Year Award. Gwenyth Paltrow, Chloe Sevigny, Kate Bosworth, Kirsten Dunst, Julianne Moore, Amy Adams, and Charlize Theron are just a few of the celebrities with whom the designers regularly collaborate.
