Old Jews Telling Jokes is a website featuring a collection of short videos with old jewish men and women telling jokes. Sam Hoffman and Eric Speigelman started the site in 2009, in an effort to bring the tradition of jewish storytelling to anyone and everyone interested in watching. And of course, if you want a story to go over well, it eventually just becomes a joke. The videos are charming; everyone must be at least 60 and jewish, and they unleash their best joke. Many of the anecdotes are very old, and if they've endured that long, you know they're gems. You may get a peek into the culture of a era, you may not know half the references, but rest assured, there is ÒAÓ material to be found in the repertoire of all these one shot comics. The site is a hit, and Hoffman and Speigelman have drawn from its popularity and the vast catalog of material they now have to pen a book, Old Jews Telling Jokes, 5000 Years of Funny Bits and Not-So-Kosher Laughs. While not making stars of any of the performers featured, Old Jews Telling Jokes is certainly doing its part to bring some very endearing aspects of jewish culture into the conversation a bit.
