The National Resources Defense Council is an international environmental advocacy group that is based out of New York City. It was founded in 1970 by John Adams, Gus Speth, and a group of environmentally concerned law students. Today, it is one of the largest active environmental groups in the world consisting of more than 1 million members and over 300 staffed scientists, attorneys, and other global environmental specialists. The NRDC has offices all over the world and constantly lobbies congress and high-powered public officials to promote public policy that encourages conservation of the nature and its joint relationship with our built environment.
