The National Gallery of Art is a national art museum that is open to the public, free of charge and located on the National Mall in Washington D.C. The museum is a joint resolution of the United States Congress that was established in 1937 with funding and contributions by Andrew W. Mellon. The museum was established for the people of the United States of America and has 4.6 million annual visitors and is ranked second nationally and sixth globally among museums. In additional Andrew W.
