The Los Angeles Film Festival was originally founded and known as the Los Angeles Independent Film Festival (LAIFF) in 1995 and carried that name through the next six years. In 2001, the Los Angeles Independent Film Festival was absorbed by Film Independent. The festival had 19,000 people in attendance at its height and now attracts more than 90,000 people a year. The festival showcases independent, international, feature, documentary, short film and music videos in their competition. The Los Angeles Film Festival is held in downtown Los Angeles, California each year.
