CityTV is a group of Canadian television stations owned by Rogers Communication Inc. The five regional CityTV-branded stations are located in Toronto, Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver. Founded by Canadian media developer Moses Znaimer, CityTV first broadcast localized programming in 1972 from its iconic open-air street-level studio in downtown Toronto. This new station quickly developed a reputation for revolutionary media practices and is credited for pioneering the concept of video journalism. Znaimer and CityTV actively recruited a highly diverse team of on-air personalities, including persons with visible physical disabilities and other members of minority groups. At one point, the Toronto station produced more Canadian programs than all other stations in Canada combined. Current programming on each CityTV regional station includes Breakfast Television, a two-hour live weekday morning show, and CityPulse News at 6, an hour-long evening news program with a focus on local content.
