Carnegie Melon University (CMU) is a private research institution for higher education that is located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The school was founded as an institute for technology in 1900 by Andrew Carnegie. It wasn't until 1967 when the institute merged with the Mellon Institute of Industrial Research that it assumed its current name and was granted university status. The university consists of seven different colleges and independent schools and enrolls a combined 10,000 graduate and undergraduate students. The seven schools include: the Carnegie Institute of Technology, the College of Fine Arts, the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Mellon College of Science, the Tepper School of Business, the School of Computer Science, and the H.
