The Big Ten Network is a television network dedicated to broadcasting games and other programs featuring teams from The Big Ten Conference. Anyone in the know is aware that college sports don't get any bigger than The Big Ten Conference. Always in the forefront of television broadcasts and conversations at the water cooler, The Big Ten Network was created in August of 2007 to give its conference members more exposure and greater control over their televised events. It is minority owned by Fox Entertainment Group, and is the first network dedicated to a single sports conference to enjoy international distribution. There are some ways in which the network sets itself apart from other sports broadcasting; they do not allow any alcohol or gambling companies to advertise, and they insist on equal coverage of women's sports, to name a couple. Their popularity and presence is unquestioned, as over 300 providers are involved in the broadcasting of their events. On the air 24 hours a day, The Big Ten Network shows all Big Ten football games, most regular season games in other sports, and many specials and highlight shows, reaching over 40 million households. The Big Ten Network is here to stay, and figures to be a mainstay for years to come.MORE
