On August 29, 2007, Barack Obama accepted the Democratic nomination for President of the United States of America at the Democratic National Convention held in Denver, Colorado. In a breaking of tradition, Obama gave his acceptance speech at Invesco Field, across town from where the DNC was taking place. In front of a crowd of 76,000 people, Obama discussed how unlikely a chance it was for him to have been nominated. A foreign born father, a relative newcomer to politics, and the first African American to be nominated, Obama knew that he had to work hard for the nomination.
