Aniplex is a Japanese anime and music production and distribution company owned by Sony Music Entertainment Japan. It used to be known as Sony Pictures Entertainment Visual Works Incorporated and Sony Music Entertainment Visual Works Incorporated. It began in January 1997. Aniplex was involved in the planning, production and distribution of Fullmetal Alchemist, Rurouni Kenshin and Blood: The Last Vampire. Aniplex also produces and distributes the music soundtrack records to these animes, as well as the soundtracks for the entirety of Sony Computer Entertainment's video and computer games. They also produce the retail merchandising of the shows such as games, toys, food and stationery. Aniplex also organizes anime festivals and events to promote their shows, such as the 2005 Fullmetal Alchemist Tour which occurred in Japan's Universal Studios theme park. MORE
