The Beatles

The Beatles are a rock n' roll group made up of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. Often considered the most successful popular music act of all time, The Beatles ushered in an era of Beatlemania that still exists to this day. When The Beatles first crossed the pond in 1964 to perform on the Ed Sullivan Show, America could already not get enough of The Beatles. With albums like Please, Please Me and Meet the Beatles their popularity could not be challenged. The 1960s saw the group releasing A Hard Day's Night, Beatles For Sale, Help!, and Rubber Soul. A Hard Day's Night was accompanied by a film of the same name featuring the Beatles as comedic versions of themselves. Rubber Soul also showed signs of maturing as a group, instead of a collection of singles it functioned as a whole piece. This step forward led to the writing of Revolver which was very much in the same ilk. Next was a concept album called Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. They followed this effort with the double album known by fans as the White Album along with their last two full lengths Abbey Road and Let It Be. After the release of Let It Be, the Beatles had had enough and broke up. Though all four members saw solo success, the popularity of the Beatles has shown no signs of slowing down.
