MGMT

MGMT is an American psychedelic rock band. The band formed in 2005. It was formed by Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser while they were still freshmen attending Wesleyan University. Upon their graduation they toured heavily to promote their first EP, entitled Time to Pretend. They opened for the rock band Of Montreal on this first tour. The band grew as the live touring members Mathew Asti, Will Berman, and James Richardson joined as well. MGMT signed with Columbia Records as well as Red Ink in 2006. Their first album, Oracular Spectacular, went to number twelve on the UK album chart was was named the 18th best album of the decade by Rolling Stone Magazine. In 2010 MGMT was nominated for a Grammy for Best New Artist and Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals. Their second album, Congratulations, came out on April 13th, 2010, and featured such songs as Flash Delirium and Lady Dada's nightmare. MORE
