Metallica

Metallica is a heavy metal band formed in the early 1980s by James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, and Dave Mustaine. Mustaine was later replaced by Kirk Hammet and they added bassist Cliff Burton. Metallica became a staple of the early 1980s thrash metal scene with the release of their first album entitled Kill 'Em All. Metallica continued the trend of thrash metal while expanding their compositional repertoire with albums like Master of Puppets and Ride the Lightning. The band saw mainstream success and faced accusations of selling out with the release of the album ...And Justice For All that featured their first music video for the song "One". ...And Justice For All was the first album released by the band after the tragic death of Cliff Burton and featured their new bassist Jason Newsted. Metallica continued and amplified their success in the 1990s with their self-titled album featuring the world-wide smash hit "Enter Sandman". Metallica soon released the albums Load and Reload along with a collection of covers and demos called Garage, Inc. In 2003, Metallica changed styles and bassists adding Robert Trujillo to the mix, both of which were seen in the documentary Some Kind of Monster.
