Leonard Cohen

Leonard Cohen, born Leonard Norman Cohen, is a musical artist born on September 21, 1934 in Montreal, Canada. He began recording shortly after moving to the United States in the late 1960s. Cohen quickly became a member of Andy Warhol's entourage and released his first album, Songs of Leonard Cohen, in 1967. Two years later, he released Songs from a Room and two years after that he released Songs of Love and Hate. A live album, simply called Live Album, was released in 1973 and his fifth album, New Skin for the Old Ceremony came a year later. Though he became a popular cult singer, especially in Europe, Cohen's musical output decreased over the ensuing years. He released Death of a Ladies' Man in 1977 and Recent Songs in 1979. It would be five years before he his next album, Various Positions, became available and another four before I'm Your Man appeared. The Future landed in 1992, followed by Ten New Songs almost a decade later and Dear Heather in 2004. His songs have appeared in numerous films, and he is best known for the songs, "Hallelujah", "Waiting for a Miracle" and "Suzanne." MORE
