Johnny Cash' was one of the world's most famous country singers and is considered one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century. Besides country music he also was involved in rock and roll, blues, folk, gospel and rockabilly. He was born on February 26th, 1932. He had a deep bass-baritone voice and was known for his rebellious and caustic nature. He was somber and humble and got the nickname 'The Man in Black' due to the dark clothing he invariably wore. Traditionally he began every concert by simply saying 'Hello, I'm Johnny Cash,' and would then usually go into his standard (and classic) 'Folsom Prison Blues.' His music revolved around redemption, sorrow and moral trials. His most famous songs are 'I Walk the Line,' 'Folsom Prison Blues,' 'Man in Black,' 'Get Rhythm,' and 'Ring of Fire.' He was married to the singer June Carter. Cash was a devout Christian, but highly troubled by drugs and the excesses always associated with rock (or country) stardom. Johnny Cash died in 2003.MORE
