Black Eyed Peas

The Black Eyed Peas have earned fans all over the world with their high-energy and positive approach to hip hop music, achieving record-breaking success on Billboard's music charts and selling millions of albums. The group's origins can be traced back to 1988, when founding members will.i.am and apl.de.ap met. The two aspiring musicians were only in eighth grade at the time, but their proficiency for songwriting and performance quickly became apparent. However, the group initially had difficulty finding an audience. At a time when hip hop was dominated by gangsta rap, their preference for positive lyrics that dealt with the themes of love and peace was not popularly accepted or encouraged by hip hop labels. However, the young rappers stuck with it, and in the early 2000s they achieved the widespread success they deserved.
