Young Frankenstein is a 1974 comedy directed by Mel Brooks. A parody of horror movies, it stars Gene Wilder as Dr. Frederick Frankenstein. He is desperate to distance himself from his grandfather to the point where he pronounces his name differently. He is soon informed that he has inherited his grandfather's estate in Transylvania and sets off to see his new land. There he meets his lab assistant Inga (Teri Garr), the house servant Frau Blucher (Cloris Leachman), and Igor (Marty Feldman). He eventually discovers his grandfather's work of attempted corpse reanimation. He is then inspired to continue with the experiment. He sends Igor to steal a brain, but he comes back with an "abnormal" specimen. Dr. Frankenstein uses the abnormal brain and reanimates a corpse into Frankenstein's monster (Peter Boyl). He escapes the castle and has encounters with a young girl and a hermit. The monster is eventually found by Dr. Frankenstein and after some training, presents him to the world. The presentation includes a rendition of "Puttin' on the Ritz" and various other feats. A light explodes, however, causing the monster to run rampant and be arrested. The monster escapes from jail and is about to be captured by a mob of local townspeople when Dr. Frankenstein transfers some of his intellect into the monster. This results in the monster being able to reason with the mob and ends up sophisticated and happily married.MORE[EDIT]
