Wonder Boys is a 2000 drama starring Michael Douglas, Tobey Maguire, Robert Downey, Jr., and Katie Holmes and based on the novel of the same name by Michael Chabon. Douglas stars as Grady Tripp, a novelist who pays the bills by teaching at a local Pittsburgh university. He's recently been left by his wife and he struggles to complete a suitable follow-up to his first well-received novel. He has two particularly promising students—Hannah Green (Holmes), who rents a room from him, and James Leer (Tobey Maguire), whose writing talents don't help his general confusion about his place in life.
