Wolves is a documentary by filmmaker David Douglas (made with the assistance of the National Wildlife Federation and National Geographic) that follows the restoration of wolf populations to Yellowstone National Park. The film recounts the 19th Century expansion of the United States in the West, and the damaging effects of the settlement on both the environment and Native American nations. The historical material prefaces a detailed presentation of efforts by scientists, preservationists, and groups such as the Nez Perce to aid in the wolves' recovery, with generous footage depicting the life cycle of the wolf and relationships within the pack.
