Winter's Bone is a 2010 drama directed by Debra Granik. In the Ozarks, many of the residents are impoverished. Although familial bonds run deep, dangerous rivalries and the threat of drug addiction make life difficult for most locals. Although she is only 17, Ree (Jennifer Lawrence) is forced to get by on her own and take care of her two young siblings, Sonny (Isaiah Stone) and Ashlee (Ashlee Thompson). Her father is missing and her mother is catatonic, meaning that Ree is the only one keeping the family together.
