Who's Minding the Mint?

Who's Minding the Mint? is a hilarious 1967 caper in which a worker at the Washington D.C. mint, Harry Lucas (Jim Hutton), gets himself into unexpected trouble. As a guy with a few girlfriends, Harry has no plans to settle down, so he avoids the advances of his co-worker, Verna Baxter (Dorothy Provine). She brings him homemade fudge that he can't stand. One day he accidentally packs $50,000 into a bag with the fudge and leaves the building with it, tossing the bag in the trash. When he realizes what he's done, he knows his career is in jeopardy. Harry hatches a plan to sneak into the mint at night and reprint the lost cash. Harry turns to Pop (Walter Brennan), a former printer who has lost his job. Pop agrees to help generate the cash and recruits accomplices Dugan (Jack Gilford) and Luther (Milton Berle). Little does Harry suspect that Pop is going to ask for more in return than Harry had anticipated. MORE [EDIT]
