When I Find the Ocean

When I Find the Ocean is a 2006 family drama directed by Tonya S. Holly. Lily Strickland (Lily Matland Holly) is growing up during the 1960s in Alabama. Even though she is only 12 years old, Lily has already faced her share of heartbreak. Her close bond to her father was broken when he vanished at sea. Since her father is presumed dead, Lily and her mother (Amy Redford) move in with Lily's grandfather (Lee Majors) and grandmother (Diane Ladd). Lonely and confused, Lily cannot be comforted by the love and support of her remaining family. To make matters worse, her mother's new boyfriend, Dean (Richard Tyson), is anything but loving towards Lily. Instead of becoming a father figure, he makes Lily's life miserable. She feels she has nowhere to turn to unburden the dark secrets between her and Dean. In desperation, Lily runs away from home to find peace.
