We're in the Legion Now (1937), written by Roger Whately and directed by Crane Wilbur, is a comedy about two small-time criminals from New York, Dan Linton (Reginald Denny) and Spike Conover (Vince Barnett), who join the French Foreign Legion to escape the their powerful enemies. Adventure and comedy ensue as the two heavy-drinking trouble-makers find themselves in Morocco, constantly breaking the rules, and being punished with menial tasks. They don't seem to learn their lesson and as a result, stay at odds with their superiors. So they quickly find themselves serving six-month sentences in a work camp run by Adjutant Cartellini (Frank Hoyt), who is both callous and cruel. When Cartellini's sadism causes the death of many fellow prisoners, Dan and Spike can no longer remain silent. The two men not only try to deal with the abusive Adjutant, but they must do so as Arabs attack the camp, which further obscures the fate of the two criminals.MORE[EDIT]
