Wallace and Gromit: A Matter of Loaf and Death is a stop-animation short film directed by Nick Park. Wallace (Peter Sallis) and his dog, Gromit, are bakery workers who get caught up a string of baker deaths. Wallace soon becomes infatuated with the "Bake-O-Lite Girl," Piella (Sally Lindsay) and is therefore doesn't see what is right under his nose. Right from the start Gromit seems to know that something fishy is up with this Piella, while Wallace is blinded by love. After one of his outings with Piella and her pet poodle, Fluffles (Melissa Collier), Wallace discovers she has left her purse at his house. As it is storming, he sends Gromit out to return it.
