Walk the Line is a 2005 dramatic biography of legendary American country star Johnny Cash, starring Academy Award-nominee Joaquin Phoenix and Academy Award-winner Reese Witherspoon in the riveting story of a boy from small-town Alabama who grows up to become one of the most influential musicians of all time. While this film tells the story of Cash's artistic and commercial success, it's a love story at heart, relaying the touching tale of Cash's romance with fellow country star, June Carter (Witherspoon). This film traces Cash's success back to his troubled early days, beginning with the sudden death of his brother, an event that would haunt him for the rest of his life. As he grows up, he develops an interest in writing and playing songs that eventually leads him to audition for Sam Phillips, owner of Sun Records in Memphis, TN.
