Venus Boyz is an offbeat documentary film with sexual exploration at its core. The film, helmed by documentarian Gabrielle Baur, chronicles the lives of several women as they dress in drag and attend Drag King Night in New York City. The cameras follow each woman as she experiments with masculinity - whether its just for one night of drag, or a permanent sexual identity they assume. Baur urges them to explain what inspires their sexual curiosities, and how these changes were initiated. As a result, the film is just as enlightening for the viewer as it for its subjects who are forced to assess their daily activities and give meaning to them. Venus Boyz even manages to follow several cross dressers who experiment with hormones such as testosterone in London and Zurich. Subjects include Diane Torr, Dred Gerestant, Del La Grace Volcano, Queen Bee Luscious, and Mistress Formika. Venus Boyz is an eye-opening documentary that doesn't pit argument against argument. Instead, it offers a candid portrayal of women experimenting with masculinity. Two thumbs up.MORE[EDIT]
