Valley of the Dolls is an American drama film based on the 1966 novel written by Jacqueline Susann by the same name. This story follows three young women's ups and downs in life as the appeal of fame, alcohol, pills, and men consumes their lives. Neely O'Hara (Patty Duke) is an adventurous and talented actress who acts in a Broadway play the legendary actress Helen Lawson (Susan Hayward) stars in. Through this gig she meets Jennifer North (Sharon Tate), a beautiful blonde in the chorus and Anne Welles (Barbara Parkins) a well-bred small town girl from Massachusetts who works for a theatrical agency that represents Helen Lawson.
