Valley Of Tears is a 2003 documentary that captures 24 years in the struggle for equal rights by Mexican-Americans in a small Texas town. Filmmaker Hart Perry begins the film with the 1979 strike by onion farm workers in Raymondville where the migrant workers fight for a livable wage. The film captures the everyday hardships the migrant workers endure to make a better life for their families. Twenty years later, the fight has moved from the fields to the local school board. The citizens reminisce about the changes that have occurred over the years. Some of the same activists from the labor strike are now working to elect a Mexican-American to represent them on the board. A county district attorney creates controversy by MORE [EDIT]
