V for Vendetta is a sci-fi thriller based on the graphic novel by Alan Moore and Dave Lloyd, where a mask wearing freedom fighter V (Hugo Weaving), inspired by the story of Guy Fawkes, rescues Evey Hammond (Natalie Portman). In the dystopian future, Britain has become totalitarian, ruled by the Norsefire regime and their leader High Chancellor Adam Sutler (John Hurt), using heavy surveillance and propaganda. When Evey Hammond is out after curfew, she is arrested by the Finger agents, but rescued by the vigilante known as V, who fights against the oppressive society using terrorist tactics.
