Under Our Skin is an Oscar finalist documentary by Director Andy Abrahams Wilson. After Wilson’s sister fell ill with Lyme disease, he became interested in the disease and began to learn more about it. The film presents his findings in a dramatic, inflammatory way, exposing the journeys that Lyme disease victims take in an attempt to find treatment. Some have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars, being shuffled from doctor to doctor, while many have been told that their suffering is all psychosomatic. After all, the Infectious Diseases Society of America has declared that chronic Lyme disease does not exist. So why do some doctors dedicate their careers to researching and treating it? Especially when the cost for prescribing expensive intravenous long-term antibiotic therapy is sometimes suspension of their medical licenses, by state boards with heavy backing from insurance companies? Under Our Skin is an eye-opening expose of the health care system, corruption within in it, and its treatment of Lyme disease.MORE[EDIT]
