Un Chien Andalou is a 1929 cinematic collaboration between film director Luis Bunuel and painter Salvador Dali that combines dreamlike imagery in a short, silent film. The filmmakers use a series of provocative images, from a woman's eyeball cut open with a razor that parallels a cloud moving over the moon. Other images include a colony of ants swarming on a man's hand to a man dragging a piano and dead animal to create a confusing and shocking effect. A young girl (Simonne Mareuil) and Man (Pierre Batchef) appear throughout the disconnected images while the soundtrack plays excerpts from Wagner's opera "Tristan and Isolde" as well as 1920s tangos.
