Tyler Perry’s The Family That Preys is a movie from the director of House of Payne, Madea Goes to Jail, Diary of a Mad Black Woman, Meet the Browns, and Daddy’s Little Girls. Charlotte Cartwright (Kathy Bates) and Alice Evan (Alfre Woodard) are best friends, despite how different they are. Although Alice is a hard- working woman who owns a diner, and Charlotte is a wealthy socialite, they are still very close, to the point that Charlotte hosts Alice’s daughter Andrea (Sanaa Lathan)’s wedding to construction worker Chris Bennett (Rockmond Dunbar). Charlotte’s son William (Cole Hauser) encourages the two to seek employment at their family’s construction company, which he is trying to take control of from his mother, when they return from their honeymoon. Andrea ends up working for the company, while Chris is hired as one of their workers. Boosted by her success and feeling “above” her husband, she begins an affair with the also married William Cartwright. Meanwhile, kindhearted sister Pam (Taraji P. Henson) who works in their mother’s diner marries Ben (Tyler Perry), who is close with Chris and aspires for them to start a company of their own, a hope shut down by Andrea despite the secret amounts of money she hoards that could help them launch their venture. When Alice and Charlotte find out about the messes between their family, they go on a road trip that reveals further strife in their personal lives, and on their return, things are only getting worse. Between paternity suits, infidelity, and unjust business practices, the two families are intertwined in conflict. The two friends try to make peace between their families, but it won’t come without the cost of reversals of fortune and broken hearts.MORE[EDIT]
