Twist is modern-day version of the classical story of Oliver Twist, an adorable English orphan who runs away from the workhouse and joins a group of pickpockets in London. The 'twists' in this version of the tale are that it is set in Toronto, Canada, instead of London, England, and it is told from the viewpoint of the Artful 'Dodge' Dodger (Nick Stahl), the leader of the gang of pickpockets. When Dodge meets Oliver (Joshua Close), they quickly develop a friendship and Dodge brings Oliver along as his apprentice. Dodge introduces Oliver to street life and hustling - prostitution, drug dealing and sleeping on the streets.
