To Kill a Mockingbird is the story of Jean Louise Finch (Mary Badham) a girl, known to friends and family by the nickname Scout, who lives in Maycomb, Alabama in the early 20th century. Along with her brother, Jeremy Jem Finch (Phillip Alford), and their friend, Charles Dill Harris (John Megna), Scout lives an idyllic life, one of games and fun, and wondering what the town bogeyman, Arthur Boo Radley (Robert Duvall), is up to. However, when their father Atticus Finch (Gregory Peck) becomes the defending attorney for Tom Robinson (Brock Peters), a black man falsely accused of raping a white woman, things quickly change. During the course of the trial, life turns upside down and the children must face evils and racism born of ignorance and hate. The love, safety, and innocence of their life quickly vanishes when people turn against the family in reaction to Atticus defending Tom Robinson.MORE[EDIT]
