Thirst is a Korean film written and directed by Park Chan-wook, the acclaimed director of Oldboy. Respected Catholic priest Sang-hyun (Kang-ho Song) is suffering internal doubts and questions of faith when he volunteers for a secret vaccine project hoping to eradicate the deadly Emmanuel Virus. The experiment is a failure, infecting the priest with the incurable disease, yet after receiving a transfusion of blood Sang-hyun experiences a miraculous recovery. Infused with vigor and awakening lusts, Sang-hyun quickly discovers a dark side to his newfound resilience as it comes accompanied with a thirst for blood. Sang-hyun realizes he has become a vampire and after failing a suicide attempt, seeks to quell his growing thirst without preying upon humans. Sang-Hyun's congregation swells into thousands as news of recovery spreads, including a childhood friend Kang-Woo (Ha-kyun Shin) and his beautiful wife Tae-ju (Ok-bin Kim).
